we had a presentation from a teacher today (doing her masters in ed) who had won a fellowship to do some research on the effects of poverty on education. part of that was about how head lice, though not a problem of hygiene tend to be a problem in houses where people are crowded together such as in multifamily crowded housing situations.
anyway, that's not the point of this...the point was head lice can live on clothing and bedding for as long as 72 hours. she recommends freezing bedding and pillows as well as washing.

A vegetable garden is one of my dreams too. I just checked "square foot gardening" out of the library and it has me all fired up !
